First and last time visiting this hotel. While it was very unique and close to the venue I had a conference at, there were a lot of issues. First, the smell was really strong. I understand the building is very old but I immediately felt like I had been swindled into staying at a really nasty hotel. The furniture was interesting. Loved the decor but the musty smell was so strong by the second day I had to ask for room spray. The location is also very loud and if you have neighbors you will hear them very easily. These weren’t even the biggest issue however. The cherry on top was when they tried to charge my company for a bottled water I didn’t even use. The conference I attended had so many drinks I didn’t even use the drink coupons the hotel gave me. I left the cleaning lady a bunch of goodies from the conference including flowers, a bag, Starbucks gift card and cash so it’s odd that they sent a final receipt without the charge for water then charged our company card a different amount that included a water I didn’t have. This place is shady, do not recommend. They also had so many issues getting my company pre auth and tried to make me pay up front when my company had to call and help them find the emails that had been sent about it because they somehow “lost” them. Staff was friendly at least. But I do not trust this business and would not go back.

My family and I recently stayed at The Horton Grand, and by doing so we have decided this will be an annual trip. This was such a beautifully historical place to stay and we are grateful to have experienced this. Hospitality was more than 5 stars, more specifically with Marjorie, the front desk receptionist and Todd, the gentleman working Valet. They were both so knowledgeable of the area and so hospitable. We were already so excited for this trip, but our interactions with them alone, made this trip so enjoyable. Thank you again.

My family and I recently stayed at The Horton Grand, and by doing so we have decided this will be an annual trip. We found this little historical gem and absolutely enjoyed our stay! This small and quaint hotel has wonderful staff and is super clean! We originally booked a suite, but once we got to the room we realized it was in the newer wing of the hotel and the view was the side of a building, which we weren't keen on. While the room itself was lovely, since we didn't care for the view, before unpacking, we asked if another room was available, and luckily we were able to change rooms. Victor, another friendly hotel staff member, was kind enough to show us a new room. Even though the room was smaller (which we didn't mind - it was still a nice sized room), it had a little balcony looking out to a tree-lit courtyard view. This new room had an old historical feel to it, which we definitely preferred. Adi at the front desk made this process very easy. The valet staff were also friendly and made great recommendations to restaurants/bars in the area. We had a nice drink in the bar and the staff here were also very attentive. Overall for being in a downtown area, it was quieter than I would have expected. So many restaurants and shops to walk to right around the hotel. While there was no breakfast, we walked across the street to the Cat Cafe for our daily latte. We were concerned there would be a lot of homeless around the area, but thankfully not nearly as many as other downtown areas. We felt safe walking around at night. Note that this hotel does not offer bell service, but they do have luggage carts that you can use to transport luggage to/from your room. Eric, at the front desk also assisted us before checking out and made checkout simple. This is definitely a hotel I would recommend and stay at in the future. This is an awesome location for visiting the Gaslamp district. It is also a 5 minute walk to the trolley. The Salt and Whiskey bar in the Horton serves delicious old fashions and other drinks as well as food.
This hotel is said to be haunted! Some of the rooms have been renovated and some are in the process. We arrived early from our cruise ship and our room was available so we were able to get in early. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Well worth the stay!

This hotel is said to be haunted! Some of the rooms have been renovated and some are in the process. We arrived early from our cruise ship and our room was available so we were able to get in early. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Well worth the stay!

Check in: seamless experience, arrived a bit early but the person at the counter already had my room ready so I was able to put my stuff down before heading out again. Also got a voucher for free drinks for their bar but never ended up using it.
The room: room is decent. It's not overly modern or exciting, just a regular room with all I needed to stay for a few nights. It is quite an old hotel though, so the rooms also show their age. The air conditioning is also very loud at times that it wakes me up at night 😅
Room service: Really good service. Made up my room every night and was very efficient.
Location: right in the center of everything, from the gaslamp district to the convention centre, it's proximity to everything is amazing!
All in all, this was a decent hotel. Not overly extravagant nor too run down. Just a cozy space to call home for a week.
