This resort has a bit of an identity crisis. The grounds and location are beautiful - full of trees, flowering tropical plants and nice views of the water. The pool and restaurant area is lovely, and it connects right to walking and running paths and parks along the waterfront. The people who were there are very friendly and helpful. However, the buildings and rooms are badly in need of renovation. The villa room I stayed in had small, shabby beds - no way those are queen-size beds for two people - and smelled really strongly of stale cigarette smoke or mold. The electrical/HVAC is old, and one wall of lighting in my room didn't work at all. Cracks in the bathroom sink and stained counters. I stayed as part of a conference so my room rate was acceptable for the quality of the stay, but I would not choose to pay the regular rate to come back for a vacation. it's got a lot of potential, but the rooms need some serious love to make it feel like a relaxing getaway.

Our stay was great. Every meal we had was very delicious. Everybody was very friendly and helpful. Loved talking to Barrett, he was a blast. Wish it was a little closer to some shopping but for relaxing it was perfect.

This resort is a beautiful getaway with all the amenities you want for relaxation and fun. My favorite things about it are the in-room balconies, location on a walking path next to the water and cozy fireplaces active whenever there's a chill. It's not very walkable to other sites/businesses, but that adds to the quiet atmosphere.

I stayed at the San Diego Mission Bay Resort for the first time and I do have to say it was great. Everything was very convenient and I had a great view of the water. The food was delicious, but a little on the pricey side. I ordered room service and the food came quickly and was still hot. I plan on staying here again.

We had a great stay recently here. Every staff member we encountered was so nice and helpful, they really exceeded all of our expectations. The property is very nice and well kept. Our room was spacious with an amazing view. Housekeeping did a great job throughout our stay. They had fun activities available and we loved the s’mores on the beach. The location is isolated (which made it feel even more relaxing) so you have to drive to destinations but it’s so quick and easy to get on the highway (freeway? Ha I’m not from CA). We didn’t eat much at the resort - part of our love for San Diego is the delicious food we seek out throughout the city- but the few things we did have were excellent, and made better by the wonderful service. Really great resort!
