This place is just OK. The biggest pro is the location, it’s walking distance from the beach. The rooms are fine, standard Marriott rooms. Nothing special, but clean and get the job done.
The negatives: Elite benefits, breakfast, the restaurant, irregular club hours. So when I first checked in I asked about breakfast for my family and they basically said they have a policy of only 1 complimentary breakfast for the member and 1 for a guest, but it is inconsistently enforced. Well, when we showed up to breakfast I did have to pay for both my 2 year old and 4 year old. How silly. On top of that the breakfast is in the restaurant and not in the club, so you’re expected to leave a tip. And the breakfast buffet isn’t even good, I’ve had better breakfasts at cheaper hotels.
They have an M Club, but it was closed the entire time I was there. Apparently the normal operating hours are only Monday to Thursday. Ridiculous. I was expecting this to be an amenity I could use during my stay.
As is all too common these days, I felt like I got next to nothing for my elite status. Purely as a place to sleep this hotel is fine, but if you’re expecting anything more stay somewhere else.

This is what a $300 room looks like (see pics). There is nothing special about this hotel other than the location. You get complementary breakfast for two people only. This means that if you have a family of three or more, they get to have breakfast only if they pay for it. Unbelievable. Sadly, I have nothing else to say about this specific hotel.

This is what a $300 room looks like (see pics). There is nothing special about this hotel other than the location. You get complementary breakfast for two people only. This means that if you have a family of three or more, they get to have breakfast only if they pay for it. Unbelievable. Sadly, I have nothing else to say about this specific hotel.

We had the best time staying here! Location can't be better, close to the beach, restaurants, and downtown. But the food and drinks inside the hotel are great too! Mark, at the bar, went above and beyond and made our trip that much better. He had great recommendations, made excellent drinks, and was super fun and friendly. Would come back just to go to the bar, as long as Mark is there!

We had the best time staying here! Location can't be better, close to the beach, restaurants, and downtown. But the food and drinks inside the hotel are great too! Mark, at the bar, went above and beyond and made our trip that much better. He had great recommendations, made excellent drinks, and was super fun and friendly. Would come back just to go to the bar, as long as Mark is there!

We were driving up the coast and didn't have reservations anywhere. Ended up in Ventura. Just as Matt was about to book me a room, someone (presumably a manager) walked by and whispered to him. He said "apparently I'm not supposed to do walk-ups anymore." Then just made a face like "I'm sorry" or something. I had to stand in front of him, go to my app to book a room and then tell him I wanted to check in - while a customer behind me waited. If I had had another option, I would have gone somewhere else.
The rooms were good. It is close to the beach, but our balcony overlooked the In-N-Out Burger. There was an officer in the lobby the whole time we were there. Not sure if that made me feel safe or uneasy to leave the hotel. Matt, the servers and room service were extremely nice and helpful. I feel bad that they have to work for that manager.
