We stayed 2 nights , booking a Jr corner suite on our quick trip to San Diego for a wedding. I was looking for a more historic vibe, and remember when this place was the YMCA growing up here in my favorite city. The staff were all welcoming, kind and helpful. The room was nice, clean and sleep quality great. LOVE the Le Labo toiletries in the room. They have a nice lobby bar serving up craft cocktails and food that we took advantage of while waiting on our room to be ready (they are serious on that 4pm checkin) loved the location which was walkable to where we were meeting family, etc on this quick trip. Only 2 things were detractors for me - weird musty smell in the room and the mini ironing board (big deal for me as I iron on my trips)

I did a temp job over a weekend. Rooms feel small which seem pricey for the size. To walk inside the hotel is pretty restricted and you need a room key for everything even for using the elevator.
The hotel feels trendy and not outdated. Smells awesome in the mornings. No front desk just two small desks by the entrance's left side which seem anything but front desk. It gives an intimate feel.
Housekeeping management is adamant about beds. Sheets need to be spotless and they are not kidding.
I encounter a stained mattress top on one of my rooms. I called management to send me a clean one. Other hotels would suggest to camouflage it. Here I had to wait for the houseman quite some time.
There were no mattress tops available so he had to go and buy a new one. Absolutely no recycled bed clothing will be allowed. I got rejected 2 rooms because a pen size dot on the first sheet at the folding part. Damn you management.!
I love the bathrooms size. Even small tiny rooms have a decent size bathroom. Some rooms on the east facing windows side feel pretty hot on the afternoons.
Most rooms have windows that can be opened just a few inches. Enough for fresh air coming into the room. Comes handy since some rooms have a pretty shitty AC.
Overall I would be down to stay in this hotel if someone else pays but for all the shit I carry I need bigger rooms to stay.

Our stay at the Guild was beyond our expectations. We found everything from check in to check out to be exceptional.
Upon check in, the staff quickly aided us in getting setup with our room. They were super friendly and helpful, and even opened the door for us when we arrived. Checking in took all but 5 minutes, and the entire process felt seamless.
For dinner, we ate at the Guild Bar, and I enjoyed Steak Frites with a vodka tonic. The steak was prepared perfectly, and the the flavor was excellent. My wife enjoyed the crab cakes and an espresso martini. Both were very delicious, and exceeded our expectations.
Our room was very clean, although it was smaller than we had envisioned. Even so, it was very comfortable and felt high quality. All the amenities from toiletries to the television were present, and our sleep/stay was a comfortable one.
Check out was just as simple as checking in. We appreciated the staff’s offer to help carry our stuff outside, and the professionalism and courtesy of the front desk staff helped us feel valued in our stay.
Overall, the Guild was a phenomenal hotel all around. From service to comfort and everything in between, we would highly recommend a stay here to everyone. 5/5 stars!

This hotel stood out for the little things. Would definitely stay here again and probably will. There was a personalized note and Madelines in our room upon arrival, there is fruit out for snakes, in the early afternoon they put cookies out. And not just generic cookies, but unique cookies that are delicious. Other items the stood out included a great lunch menu, especially the steak sandwich. The breakfast/ lunch patio made you feel like you were in Europe, if it was not for the skyscraper you could see over the building walls. Also a nice surprise was the Espresso martini at the bar. The bartender made it perfectly with real espresso and a nice foam on top. Well done. Go here just for the bar and food. To top it off the hotel has a small store and a barbershop. A legit barbershop. Was able to get an appointment for a hot shave before going out on the town. Super nice fellow that loves his shop and what he does.
The rooms are clean and the bed was super comfortable. The only thing to note for some is the rooms are on the smaller side and some rooms are at or below the ground floor. It is also a dog friendly hotel.

Overall one star due to the fact that their event area is too close to the rooms and no sound buffer/barrier exists. We stayed the night in SD to avoid driving the hour back home but were unable to sleep due to the extremely loud music.
The staff were fantastic, however, they did not enforce the venue rules. If you’re looking to host an event, the Guild is probably a good choice as they’ll ignore their own rules at the expense of their hotel guests.
We called at 11pm to inquire about the volume and were told they’d ask them to lower the music. At one point, around 9 pm, the music was faint but suddenly it increased to an intolerable volume. I was offered ear plugs and was told they’d ask for the volume to be lowered but that the music would stop at 12 am. It did not. I called around 12:05 am and was told they’d ask them to lower it if the DJ didn’t want to stop. The volume did not stop, nor did it decrease as I write this at 12:18 am. Just a frustrating experience at what should have been an otherwise fantastic hotel.
