This hotel is very chic. Stylish, couture, and elegant. Originally booked for a regular room. But was upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite after asking for a complimentary enhanced upgrade with Platinum Elite Status. Loved the suite. The staff members were incredibly friendly. Especially the restaurant folks. Thank you for an amazing stay.

When first approaching from the street, one's first impression might be "uh-oh" because it is in a slightly seedy quadrant of downtown Sacramento, but I am immune to such things. Enter inside and leave all fears behind, as this is a real unique and welcoming experience, hearkening back to old times when newsprint was king, and stories hot off the press could make or break a political career.
I love older building conversions, and seek them out as places to stay, and this did not disappoint. I stayed at The Citizen in July 2023 for one night, was welcomed by a quite friendly staff, had a high-floor room with a view of the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament, enjoyed an excellent dinner downstairs at the Grange restaurant, had a quiet restful night, and spent the following day at a great exhibit at the Crocker Art Museum and at the Leland Stanford Mansion. Sacramento is well worth a visit, and the Citizen should be your hotel of choice.
Note: As I often do when staying in downtown hotels, I parked on the street (about a block away), so my parking costs were minimal (about $3.)

I love staying here every time I come to Sac. The views from the top floor rooms are stellar and the rooms themselves are always uniquely decorated, clean and comfortable. They have coffee and naturally flavored seltzer waters every day in the lobby, and staff is always friendly. The gym is nice and does the trick, with a cable machine, leg press, a great variety of weights and some cardio machines. One thing to note is the only parking available is valet, which is $40 a night, and there is also a plaza right across from the hotel that often has concerts. If you don't like noise, this stay may not be for you, but we found it fun to walk across the street and have something to do. You really can't beat the location.

I must say this hotel far exceeded my expectations. I LOVED the Renaissance with a twist of modern feel of the hotel. The staff all made me feel comfortable. The brunch was exceptional I recommend anyone staying to try it you won't be disappointed. I would certainly book this hotel again 10/10

A very uniquely designed hotel that is absolutely beautiful both inside and outside. It's a great spot to be able to experience to the beautiful decor but it's not the best spot for longer stays. The rooms living quarters are very cramped while the bathrooms are 2-3x the size necessary. Extremely noisy from the street traffic below and poor sound insulation. Self-parking was very easy with a garage nearby.
The staff however are a highlight and should be commended. They gave above and beyond benefits for a Marriott silver stay with a preferred room, water, snacks reserved for higher tier members and an overall very friendly manner throughout the entire time.
