Portola Inn

I was recently a photographer for a wedding at the Portola Inn. What a hidden gem in the heart of Atascadero! I loved all of the cute corners to take portraits and the owners are the sweetest. You can tell how much they love this property.

I held a surprise birthday party for my husband at the Portola Inn. Our host, Tom, was amazing. I never dreamed it could be so easy to make a wildly successful party for 50 with 30 of them being from out of town, but it was. The success was nearly completely due to Tom and his extreme competence and knowledge. All I did was ask him what I should do and follow his directions and recommendations. The caterers were superb, the DJ/vocalist amazing and the atmosphere was just about perfect. In addition, in the weeks leading up to the party, Tom was able to assist me in making sure that the party remained a complete surprise until the minute the guests yelled surprise as we walked through the carriage house doors. The party was almost three weeks ago and every time I have seen or talked to one of the guest since the party, they ALL tell me what an amazing party it was and how much fun they had. Kudos to Tom, Peggy and the Portola Inn!

I recently got married on 10/10/20 and I decided to change my wedding from 100 guests to 8 guests since both my father and father in law are at higher risk for COVID. Peggy and Tom were so sweet and understanding and were able to adjust my wedding package. I am SOOO happy I chose to get married at the Portola inn. The grounds are absolutely GORGEOUS and your wedding photos will look so amazing! Not only will you have a beautiful venue but Peggy also acts as an event planner which was so helpful! She was always very prompt in getting back to me with any questions or concerns I had and even referred me to amazing local vendors. On the day of the wedding Peggy was running around making sure everything was set up and helping with last minute details. Tom helped make sure that my arch was secure since it was such a windy day. He even helped my dad with his tie! Both Peggy and Tom went above and beyond and I can’t thank them enough. I felt very safe having my wedding during a pandemic at the Portola Inn. Peggy and Tom were respectful and made sure to have their masks on at all times and followed guidelines. Do yourselves a favor and book your wedding at the Portola inn. You won’t regret it!

Easily, one of my favorite wedding venues. As a wedding photographer, I see firsthand how different venues work out for photos, etc logistically and Portola Inn just has the absolute best light (especially for the ceremony) throughout the day. Not to mention the endless areas that you can take photos in. It is SUCH a hidden gem! There is enough tree coverage to be able to shoot mid day without having to worry about the sun being too harsh. The sun coming through the trees is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. There is TONS of greenery. Also the staff is so nice and so helpful!

My husband and I recently stayed at the Portola Inn and had a wonderful experience. Tom and Peggy were very welcoming and they were always quick to respond if we had questions or needed anything. The grounds are beautiful and well cared for and the guest house could not have been more perfect.
