Hands down my favorite hotel and pool in San Diego, I'd give 10+ stars if I could. It's always clean, the customer service is always wonderful and I love the way it smells when you walk in.
I live in SD, so I've only stayed here a few times. Luckily I have work relationships who frequently visit SD for business--and I always insist they stay here (I love the pool that much). They're never disappointed and they know where to stay on their next visit to SD.
It really makes a huge difference where you stay when you're traveling for work, especially when you travel alone. Probably more for females, but I always stay where I feel comfortable, safe, the employees remember you, amenities and food are great, ambiance, etc. The consistency is so important--plus the location is great depending on where your job takes you.
They usually stay a few extra days and we'll use the pool---the pool service is wonderful and I think everything tastes better at the pool. The staff is A+.
I've been meaning to write a review about the Hilton Bayfront for years now, I love it that much. If there's no availability here I'd wait until there is for your trip.

I picked this hotel for my family given it was highly rated. From the pictures it looked quite luxurious. However, since staying here, it’s been rather disappointing. We pulled up in our vehicle and the two people working behind the valet counter continued chatting. Nobody came up to greet us until we approached the counter. The man at the check in counter could be a bit more friendly and enthused. Upon entering the room, I immediately noticed the very obvious tear on top of the comforter. One of the towel handles was also just hanging off the wall. You would think for a 4 star hotel, they would repair/replace the noticeable damages.

Currently staying here and it’s overall been a disappointing experience. I am Hilton Diamond status but haven’t been treated like it. The original hotel my work booked gave my room type away so since I have Hilton status I just came here. I checked the app and there were 3 room types available. When I arrived I was told the hotel was sold out. So I booked on the app and walked back up to check in. They seemed annoyed to check me in. I could see on the app there were lots of rooms and higher floors available. I was downgraded on check in to a different view than I booked and put on the lowest floor of the second set of floors. I was put in a handicapped room with adjoining doors which I didn’t want or book. No lone female traveler wants to be in a room that has a door that joins to another room. When I arrived my room appeared as though it hadn’t been finished being cleaned by housekeeping. The bed was made but there were no towels in the room. There was leftover food in the fridge from the last guest. I also did not receive any water or welcome amenity. When I told the front desk they didn’t just said okay, no apology or anything. You have to pay $50 a day for parking (there are no other options) and your room key doesn’t work to open the gate. You have to wait and call customer service every time to come and go. There are homeless individuals hanging out in the garage. There is a little shop you can buy snacks and drinks in downstairs and when you check out they ask for a tip (the options being 20%, 25%, and 30%) no button for no tip, you have to click other amount then type in 0.00. What are we tipping for? You just grab the snacks and they scan you out? I’ve stayed in over 100 Hilton’s all over the world and this has been a disappointing experience. Customer service needs to care more and fix these issues, especially for people that are loyal to their brand.

Very pleasant stay overall - hotel was quiet and clean. Location is close to the gas lamp district (easy 10 min walk) where there are many restaurants and bars. Parking garage is connected to the hotel via walkway and convenient. Rooms were spacious and we got a bit of a view of the Coronado Bridge. The hotel kindly supplied a toddler crib and had it setup and ready in our room. The highlight for us was the access to the boardwalk for a morning stroll - very convenient. Would consider staying here again.
Only point of criticism was that the hotel is located right on the fringe of a grungy neighborhood (across the highway towards the baseball stadium). We were travelling with a toddler in a stroller and used the overhead walkway to cross the highway… the elevators on the walkway were out of service and being used by homeless as a shelter. The area can easily be avoided by taking a different route, but mentioning for fellow parents
Note on perks for Hilton Honours members: the hotel noted my Diamond status and was great in honouring early check in / late checkout. No room upgrade this time, and we were given a $45 voucher for breakfast (instead of a free breakfast voucher like most other Hilton’s I’ve stayed at). Overall, still nice that I got something but not the best perks I’ve seen from partner Hilton honours chain hotels.

Great beach front location, walkable to seaport village, but far enough away that it's quiet.
Rooms were clean and pleasant. Easy check-in and out and navigation of the hotel using the Hilton app.
