This is place is great if you’re not expecting anything. Has most things. Didn’t have kettles or microwave but then it’s not a motel. The location was easy enough to navigate around San Diego. The rooms were big. Supplied shampoo, conditioner & lotion. We had a balcony but I think all the rooms have a balcony. The pool are was great. Big and has a hot tub. Pool bar available. Plenty of parking for guest. Laundry facilities if you need to do washing and drying. All in all, it was great. Learn some Spanish, as Spanish widely spoken in California. Finally got to use the little I knew in Spanish. I felt so accomplished. 👍

When booking, I paid extra for a premiere room facing the pool. When I called the hotel, I asked for a room on the bottom floor close to the hot tub being that I'm a senior citizen with knee and back issues. They said that they would do their best to help us. We get there early and they had neither according to them. The room that we picked from the only 2 choices they had was the only one on the bottom floor. We found out that night that the heater was stuck on about 85 degrees. Needless to say we were up all night sweating and having to open the patio door off and on all night to keep from burning up or freezing after a while. Called the front desk the next morning very early and come to find out that they did have a room like we wanted only it was upstairs. We took it anyways. We came back later that afternoon and crashed being so tired from being up all night. We missed our birthday dinner at the Galloping Guacho that we didn't have in Arizona. We had to leave that next day so it was a piss poor birthday for the wife if you ask me. However the hotel did give us 2 vouchers to get a free soft drink for our inconvenience from the night before which we didn't use and gave back to them since we slept through their lounge hrs. This place is so old and needs to have all their rooms torn apart and converted to newer and bigger rooms. The bathrooms are a joke. They need new ac and thermostats in each room. And when customers have such a terrible experience like we did, atleast give them a break by not charging $50 for parking. Especially senior citizens.

This is a 2 star motel ! Don’t know why they say it’s a 3 star hotel or 3.5 star hotel. And they charge an additional $24/night for parking. Maid service and the front desk are excellent. But everything leaves a lot to be desired. Burnt smell upon entering the room, so you have to keep the windows just to have breathable air. And there’s no ventilation in the bathrooms either. Don’t be fooled thinking you’re getting a great deal on a 3.5 star hotel. You are getting a 2 star motel. At least it’s safe and clean. But we’ve stayed at better hotels in SD, so we do not recommend this place.

Rooms are a but old, but the services and people here are great. I've stayed at Handlery 4 times now and Pamela from the front desk is so friendly and flexible. Our room services have also been quick and full of smiles. Great place

Absolute garbage, three rows of motel garbage. Toilet seat falling rim, super smell of funk in the room, bartender even says that the 80° pool is ice cold, bathtub is stuffed with hair and wondering. Probably a nice place 20 years ago. I absolute garbage now please don't waste your time.
