We stop at Farmhouse 78 for breakfast and Dudley Bakery for pies before our trek. This is a moderate hike with about 1.5 miles of hills going up hill. The rest is a loop 3.7 miles approximately around the mountain with lots of nature. Mostly cows and calf’s. See my pictures of the lake or pond we found backside of the mountain. Great hike for families and dogs!

A great place to walk off your Julian pie! Visited on a Wednesday before lunch, and other than two friendly park rangers, we had the place to ourselves.

The Santa Ysabel Loop Trail is an awesome hike - in spring there are lots of wildflowers and the hills are very green and lush. I went on a ranger led hike and he gave us lots of information about the plants, animals and Kumeyaay. I'm ready to go back next weekend!

Awesome area. Walked into the visitor center and was greeted by Chris, one of the rangers. He was very informative without being overbearing or anything. They had a small museum/display area. The park has some decent trails. Just watch out for cow pies. The trails seem pretty well marked. There are some powerlines running through and part of the park has hwy 79 in view, but they didn't seem distracting.
