Aug 14, 2024 Hotel MdR in Marina Del Rey is a mixed bag, and I’d give it 3 stars. You can tell it used to be a rundown motel, especially with the gross carpeting. After just one night, I hopped in the shower and realized my feet were filthy, and the only place I’d been barefoot was in the room. Out of the 30 people I stayed with, 5 asked to change rooms. One person dealt with an ice machine beeping randomly at night, another had loud air conditioner noises outside their first-floor room, and I was woken up by delivery trucks at the nearby grocery store every hour starting at 3 AM. They movedy room, but the new room was musty smelling and obviously used to be a smoking room.
It seems like most of their budget went into the lobby and the restaurant/bar, which are nice but seriously understaffed and understocked. Jorge, the bartender, was incredible—handling bartending, food orders, table service, and running food all by himself—but they ran out of glassware, Bulleit Whiskey, and cherries, so everything else was served in plastic, which was disappointing. Getting a cup of coffee in the morning could take 20-30 minutes, though the breakfast buffet was decent, albeit pricey.
The outdoor sitting area and pool are small but pleasant, and the location is convenient, close to many attractions. The place isn’t filthy, but it’s far from clean. Beds were fine, and the showers were nice. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the hotel could use some upgrades, especially in the carpets and more help in the bar/restaurant. With a few improvements, this place could be much better.

Jun 28, 2024 This was probably one of the worst Hilton brand hotels I have stayed at. The one single upside was friendly staff.
Walking to my room on the 5th floor the carpet was littered with tons on stains and was just dirty in general. Upon getting into my room i found more (large and very noticeable) stains on the carpet. Walking into the bathroom there was a bunch of long hair all over the floor. The shower was dirty with soap splatters and what looked like boogers on the shower door.
I went down and talked to staff and was told they were all booked for the maid for the following day but they would try to get to it in the evening. (They at least vacuumed the following day).
I then had dinner at the restaurant downstairs and was brought a glass of water which was covered in lipstick around the rim. The food ordered was very dry and just all around not good.
Upon going back to the room the thermostat was set to 69 and the was in the 80s and blowing hot air. Hotel staff said they would get it taken care of.
Breakfast the following morning was absolutely terrible. Eggs were dried out and tasted like they were reheated in a microwave. The bacon was the same. This was also shortly after breakfast started so I can only imagine it was from breakfast the day before.
Through the next several day I returned to the ac blowing heat with the problem clearly not fixed and the unit itself rattled like crazy.
The hotel parking is $28 per night which was the most expensive rate anywhere we had found over the week I was there. I instead parked a block over and parked on the street.
All in all the hotel has a nice lobby and friendly staff, but I would suggest finding somewhere else to stay. I absolutely regret staying here for my trip.

Jun 18, 2024 Rooms are decently sized for a King bed and have ample storage / space. The bathrooms are remodeled and your typical Hilton bathroom. The staff are very pleasant and I appreciate their ability to just listen and try to solve issues that you may have.
The only downside is the placement of the elevators with respect to the rooms, they are very far away. Guests can use the service elevator that the housekeeping staff uses, but that elevator feels old.
I wouldn't mind staying here again for the price, but there are better Hilton hotels in the LA area that may be similarly priced.

May 6, 2024 Very lively, fun hotel. The bar and pool area were popping all day. Really great location. The room we got had a light musky smell. Not too terrible but not great either. The coffee bar downstairs was not serviced, someone from the restaurant tried to help us but they were out of lots of things so we just walked across the street to the French cafe.

Mar 15, 2024 We stayed here for the location. Several reasons for the lower review on everything else. When we arrived we could not check in until check -in time, even though we had previously requested it by phone. Possibly just no rooms ready yet - moving on. Our flight was changed and we needed to stay an additional night. I called the front desk and asked to extend our stay one more night. I was told that since I made my reservation through a 3rd party I had to make my reservation with them. This seemed odd that the staff could not make a reservation for me. After making my own reservation I called the front desk to see if we could stay in the same room without moving. The girl told me that would be fine and just come by the desk sometime that day. I did this and she checked her computer and said everything was fine. She asked if I wanted housekeeping and I said yes. Later that night - around 9pm when I got back to the room - housekeeping had not come. I called to request towels so we could shower. No one brought any. I called again 30 minutes later and finally had towels delivered. Also around this time a gentleman knocked on our door and told my husband no one was supposed to be in the room. I called the front desk and they said we should have checked out that day. I explained that this had already been taken care of with 2 front desk staff. The woman said I needed to come the desk to give her a credit card for incidentals. I said I was in bed and not dressed and she said “sorry” - I told her I would do it over the phone - she didn’t even offer this as an option or try to help. We will never stay here again even though the location is wonderful. All staff we encountered at the front desk were void of any customer service and quite frankly, people skills and acted as though we were an inconvenience. In addition to this the rates are extremely high for the poor quality of room we got.
