My wife and I stayed here for one night and it was great. Room was clean and we had a cool view of the pacific. Love that the windows could open and let the air in.
Check-in was easy and they let us check-in early which was great.
Restaurant service was kind of slow -- we ordered a beer and a coffee with kahlua at the bar and it took like 10 minutes which feels pretty objectively long for simple drinks.
Location couldn't be better -- walking distance from the beach and great restaurants nearby.
We'd recommend Cody's for breakfast.

We arrived a little before 3 pm for check-in, and to our surprise, they graciously accommodated our early arrival by upgrading us to a room on the fourth floor with an ocean view, instead of the standard two queen beds. From the valet service to the hotel check-in, their professionalism and service were exceptional. The staff greeted us by name with friendly demeanors, which made us feel very welcome. While the room wasn't as spacious as we had anticipated, it was well-appointed with everything we needed: two queen beds, a walk-in closet, a small refrigerator stocked with sodas and bottled water, and a coffee maker. We were delighted with the stunning ocean view from our room. The room temperature was just right, and the hotel's location near La Jolla Cove meant that everything was within walking distance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel, and it was evident that my sister, who is a frequent visitor, was recognized and appreciated by the hotel staff.

The room was a bit old but well-maintained and very clean. The location is convenient. What killed the experience for me was the unfriendly staff. After arriving, no one cared to help me with my numerous bags; the receptionist was very arrogant, didn’t even say hi and just shouted, ‘Name!’ which is not what you expect when you pay $500 a night.

I love the Grande Colonial. First off the location is perfect - views of the pacific while being right in the heart of La Jolla. The resort seems to balance being historic and current without missing a beat. The rooms are so spacious. But it’s the staff that really set Grande Colonial apart. We had some complicated requests several times during our stay and they pulled it off without skipping a beat. Everyone was so kind and helpful. Our new home away from home.

The location is a gem! The hotel itself is very nice, cozy and clean. It was fully renovated in 2019 which is a big +! Complimentary parking!!! Compare to other hotels -50$
