Delta King Hotel

My partner and I came for an overnight in Sacramento and the Delta King was on both of our to do lists. The nearly 100 year old river boat is exactly what one would expect. Small quarters, beautiful view and limited amenities. The rooms are quaint and comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful. Many brass fixtures make it authentic. The true stars of the boat are the staff members. From the front desk to the house keeping, everyone was friendly and accommodating. The bartender Anthony was fun and gave great service. Each member of staff that we encountered answered our questions and engaged in fun conversation. It truly was a wonderful birthday for me. Also, don't let them fool you, they might call the area a "tourist trap" but it is a fun one. There is so much to do in the area as well. If you have a spirit for adventure and an appreciation for the out of the ordinary, this is the spot for you

We had a lovely stay. All of the staff that we interacted with were wonderful, and made us feel very welcome. The location in Old Sac is great, with so many fun things to do within walking distance. We played mini golf, pool, and pinball.

We had a holiday party on this boat. It's old and raggedy. The decor reminded me of Marie Calendars. The food served was buffet style, and I was not impressed. Roasted chicken in a sauce, possibly roast beef, salad, garlic mashed potatoes, broccolini, carrots, and dinner rolls. I had looked at the menu beforehand and was hopeful that we'd have good food, but it was a dud 👎🏾. The person we had as a bartender should have taken the night off because his attitude was as if he didn't want to be bothered.

SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND DON’T DINE HERE FOR ANY MAJOR CELEBRATIONS LIKE VALENTINE’S DAY COMING UP!! 1/5 stars, they only get one star from be because the waiter was wonderful given how stressed out he was. Our reservations were at 7:00 PM. I checked in with the hostess at 6:40 or so, then sat at the bar to wait for our table. The poor bartender was out of glasses, behind on orders and all around stressed out. He did his best and was wonderful though and a very nice person. Now the real reason why our experience was HORRIBLE. We were seated after 7:00 PM. My first indication things were not going to go well were how many tables saw still had no food from the time I walked in through the door to the time we actually got seated. Our waitress was completely rude. Came up to us out of nowhere, did not introduce herself didn’t ask if we wanted anything to drink besides waters, etc. All she said was “What can I get you to order?”. At first I wasn’t sure if she was asking if we wanted an appetizer or starter for the table or if we just wanted the entree. Again, there was no other dialogue than her initial question. But coincidentally, after she left our table of two, she went to ALL her other tables and had an extremely different demeanor. We were never checked up on again, I had to ask for a basket of bread, and we never saw her for the rest of the night. An hour and a half later, we got up and left after seeing all the other tables waiting 50+ min for their dishes to come out. Three other tables left as well. If the kitchen was running behind (which it was, I went up after 45 minutes and asked the hostess if she knew about any possible delays with dinner. She confirmed there was), I would have been more understanding had we had a waiter that could communicate with us and made up for it with customer service. Overall: horrible customer service, horrible experience, the bread was decently good (all 5 pieces we got for an hour and fifteen minutes at that table)

I bought a gift certificate as a birthday present. After not receiving it over a week later I called to check. It had not yet been mailed to me. I cancelled the $600.00 gift certificate as the recipient's birthday has passed. I would not recommend this hotel for its front desk efficiency
