One of the nicest art museums we've been to. A nice mix of genres.
Do not miss the observation floor. Alone it's worth the price of admission. Just breathtaking views of the entire city.
There's also a very nice cafe with an expansive outdoor patio overlooking a grassy area and sculpture garden.

We came for the fashioning San Francisco and Irving penn exhibits. Both were fantastic, highly recommend. Budget a lot of time as there’s a lot to see. They allow re-entry when it’s not busy. We also did the free docent tour of the fashioning San Francisco exhibit. Lisa was knowledgeable, passionate and entertaining as she walked us through the exhibits.
I would skip the cafe. While the options are great, it’s really overpriced.
We also checked out the observation tower which is free to visit! Great views of surrounding San Francisco. We came on a foggy day which made for its own cool atmosphere.

This is a must visit place in San Francisco. It has a huge collection of American, African, Latin American art, artifacts and paintings. The architecture of the building is also very good.
The cafe here serves delicious food. It is free for public on the 1st Tuesday of the month.

We visited the Legion of honour museum. That ticket included admission to de Young museum. We didn’t have any expectations of the museum.
When we visited it, we found it interesting. The items on display were well chosen. Only issue for us was the route to take inside the museum to cover everything.
We took more than two hours to cover the museum. We liked the modern art and the American traditional crafts. We saw huge ferns on the ground floor and we went onto the tower to have a view of the city. It was a full view of the city.

The architecture of this building is amazing! Beautiful displays and the staff were all very helpful and all smiles. I definitely recommend seeing it! Especially the African displays, they are phenomenal!
